I'm Brandi, Mike's wife. Mike always had the dream of owning his own business. I never had that ambition myself, but I believed in him and wanted to support him and be his cheerleader. While still working a full time construction job, he would use his free time to search for used appliances in our area. Mike and I would test, clean and refurbish them in order to resell them.
At first, Mike shared a storage unit with his friend, but soon needed to get a storage unit of his own. The construction company he was working for had reduced his hours to part time and dropped his benefits during Covid, so Mike decided this was as good of a time as any to go from doing this as a side hustle to putting in full time effort into making this a business and working hard for his own company. I helped a lot with the admin and behind the scenes stuff with getting him up and running as an official business, including building this website which is why it's not too fancy yet, because I'm learning as I go.
He started out as Mike's Quality Pre-owned Appliances because it was all used items at first. However, he found sources that allowed us to offer brand new scratch & dent appliances, so we dropped the "Pre-owned" from our name since we sold new and used. One thing we won't drop is the word "Quality" part of our name, both with the appliances and customer service. If for any reason, there is something wrong with the appliances, we do our best to make things right. We are down to earth people and truly care about creating happy customers! Mike's Quality Appliances had some growth spurts from sharing a storage unit, to needing our own unit, to needing 2 units, to moving into a small warehouse, then to a small store front, and now a little bigger store at 4322 N 56th St. in Tampa. We will be at this location for at least 5 years so we can set some roots down and build relationships with the community.
